My favorite in all of Florida is Charlie and Jake's. They have 2 locations one in Melbourne and one in Satellite Beach. They brew their own beer and the barbecue is excellent. I have never had a bad meal and we will drive and hour and ten minutes to go eat there. The atmosphere is quite nice and very clean and the wait staff nice and attentive.

The famous beer hunter Michael Jackson had this to say about Charlie and Jake's:
"We had lunch at Charlie and Jake's Brewery & Grille (6300 N. Wickham Rd), in a shopping strip at the Sun Tree development, on the north edge of Melbourne. This brewpub grew out of an earlier, "hole in the wall" pork-barbecue restaurant run by Charlie Johnson and his then girlfriend Jake (Jacqueline).
Prospective visitors should be warned to order only the small plate of barbecue. It is a hefty portion, and comes with hush puppies (corn fritters, flavoured with onion) and a choice of two vegetables, ranging from black-eyed peas through okra to turnip greens."

The next time you're in the Orlando area do yourself a real big favor and Drop by Brian's Bar-B-Q at 2415 Aloma Avenue in Winter Park, Florida. They opened in mid-December and have attracted a host of loyal customer already. Brian's competition team won the ribs event in November of last year with a perfect score at the KCBS contest in Brooksville, Florida. This Spring they took 3rd in ribs at the MIM contest in Winter Park, Florida. Needless to say ribs, both spares and baby backs are high on the list in their restaurant. They also serve sliced pork and one of the biggest pork sandwiches you'll ever tie into. They use smoked chicken in the chicken salad on the salad bar and if you don't want to just stand there and graze you just don't know good food. They put out a couple of pretty good steaks for those folks that just can't agree with the old "Pork Fat Rules" axiom. Drop in and give them a try, you'll like em. MoSmoke
