BBQ in Charleston, SC

Visited a place called Melvin's a couple of weeks ago. The serve only mustard
base sauces. A yellow sauce and a red sauce called Carolina Red. The ribs
were real good and meaty and the red sauce was fabulous! BUT, the service
STUNK! They advertise that they open at 10.30am, so since we were on
vacation, I convinced my wife that we should sleep in late and have ribs for
breakfast. Well, when we got there, a hand written note on the door said they
wouldn't open till 11.30. Took some talking to persuade my wife to wait
another hour for ribs with mustard sauce when she doesn't like mustard! Went
back and had to stand inline for 25 minutes to place our order. They were
busy! The head guy behind the counter said we'd have to wait a good while
for our rib orders cause they were to busy making cheeseburgers! I said that
I had come all the way from Pittsburgh to try their ribs and had been waiting
since 10:30am! I then attempted to get my money back and all of a sudden the
ribs appeared. But of course I we were not in the mood to enjoy them then.
BUT, that Carolina Red sauce is really good. I wish I could have been in a
better mood to chow down!
We also ate at Sticky Fingers. Their ribs are real good! They have three
different sauces and dry ribs. I ordered a sample platter and both my wife
and I liked the whiskey flavored sauce the best. Their beans were real good
too, with a lot of chopped pork in them.
