New from KCBS – The BBQ CD
– making history on the Internet
The BBQ CD is the product of many of
years of work. This CD was actually started in April 1995 when the
BBQ Forum was started. Since that time over 70,000 messages have been posted to the Forum. These messages cover some of the most important
topics about Barbecue. Some of the best cooks in Barbeque contribute
to the Forum. Approximately 2000 people visit the Forum each day.
The question has always been "what
to do" with this vast amount of information posted to the BBQ Forum. At first we attempted to archive selected messages but this didn't
work. We then attempted to keep all the archived messages on the web
page. However, this
takes up an incredible amount of space and finding anything in the
archives has been nearly impossible. As all this progressed, the
messages kept coming in, compounding the problem. It became very
important to Ray Basso, the creator of The BBQ Forum, to preserve
this information.
So, the idea of the CD was born. We can store a lot of information on a CD.
In order to have the
archives on the CD we had to come up with something that could pay the
bill of producing the CD. After a lot of negotiating the CD is
anchored with two major cookbooks about Barbeque. The Kansas City Barbeque Society Cookbook, 220 pages,
is one of
the top cookbooks in the country. It's in the CD in it's
entirety. It all searchable and the results can be combined with relevant
Forum postings. The same is true with the Barbecuing and
Sausage-Making Secrets, 297 pages, by Charlie and Ruthie Knote. It's almost
a barbecuing bible for the serious cook. You can search the CD for
information and recipes and print out what you need.
So you can have these two major
Barbecue cookbooks at a price less than if you bought them separately and
the archives from the BBQ Forum are there at no cost.
Purchased separately
the two cookbooks would cost more then the CD and the Forum Archives are
free!!!
