Working with The BBQ CD Once you have installed the Acrobat reader and Quick Time files you are ready to get started. With The BBQ CD in the CD drive double click on the "Welcome.pdf" file and follow the directions after taking this tour you can delete the "Welcome.pdf" icon by right-clicking on the icon and then delete it. Leave the "BBQCD.pdf" icon. Now double click on the BBQCD.pdf icon.
This is the main menu there are several links on this page that will take you to various parts of the CD and the internet. We recommend that you be connected to the Internet while using The BBQ CD. The BBQSEARCH link will take you to a web page that has a great deal of good information on it. The BBQ FORUM ONLINE link takes you directly to the world famous BBQ Forum. The BBQ CD link takes you to this web page. The links to the two cookbooks take you to the respective cookbooks. You can go through each cookbook page by page, or you can use their contents and index pages, or search through them with a full text search. The BBQ Forum Archives gives you access to the 65,000 archives of the BBQ Forum. At the bottom of the main menu there are two links. The first one is "Activate all Indexes." If you click this link you will activate the indexes of the BBQ Forum, the Secrets Cookbook and the KCBS Cookbook for searching. If you want to you can un-check any of them to search the index you want to search. The Other link near the bottom is the "Tour FAQ About" link. Please, be sure to take this tour so you can learn more about your CD.
The tool bar on The BBQ CD is very useful in navigating the CD. The best way to lean how powerful some of these functions can be is to just try them and see what happens. Many of them are standard icons and you will recognize them instantly. Next we will take a bit of time to show you a few things to get you started.
The three highlighted icons near the center of the toolbar control the size of what you see in the CD. The left one displays the page at full size, the middle one fits it to the window, and the right one displays it to fill the width of the window. Try them out...
Next, at the top left of the tool bar click on File-Preferences-General and the following window will open.
As you can see you can adjust a lot of features. We suggest you start with the settings above. But note that the Magnification Default Zoom value will impact the behavior of the display as you follow links from page to page. If you want the new page to inherit the magnification in effect when you clicked the link, then this value should be set to a specific percentage (usually 100%).
